Kidney Stone - 24 weeks

Baby M is growing a lot these days! He is over 1 pound now and I am feeling him move more and more each day. I started feeling him a few weeks ago. It is the strangest thing in the world. It took me a while to realize that was him in there :)

It has been 4 weeks since my last post and I would like to say that nothing eventful happened but we all know that this pregnancy does NOT work that way! :) One Sunday I woke up and had a pain in my side, it wasn't really that bad but with everything I have been through so far, pain has not been an issue so I was concerned and we went to the labor and delivery dept at the hospital where Baby M will be born. They got us back pretty quick and the pain still was not that bad at this point. While we were waiting on the ultrasound tech to come down the pain suddenly went from not bad to extremely painful!! I could not get comfortable so I cried and tossed and turned for about 30 mins straight and then they pain just kind of went away. The doctor told me that this was just ligament pains from my belly stretching and sent us home. Wednesday night the pain came back and thinking I was just the biggest baby on Earth, I laid in bed and cried myself to sleep. Thursday I was laying in the floor at work around 2. Still thinking this is ligament pains we got a belly brace and I tried that and I was going to go to therapy to learn some stretches but I could not get out of the floor to do anything!! I went home and soaked in a hot bath and the pain just kept getting worse, by 6 I was on the phone with a nurse from my doctors office and decided I was heading back to the hospital. I do not remember much more from this night just bits and pieces. I remember thinking I would DIE before we got there. I remember being so hot I was fanning myself but when we got there they told me I was freezing. Once we got back in a room I was shaking from the pain. This is when they decide this is not ligament pains, I have a KIDNEY STONE!! I have heard about stones and heard they were bad but never in my life have I experienced pain like that before. I don't know how people deal with these frequently. This was my first hospital experience ever, first IV and all. With the pain I was going through I did not mind anything that they were doing to me. I did not get pain meds until after they worked me up and sent me down for an xray to confirm the stone. Once I got back to the room they finally drugged me and I had almost immediate relief! I was a happy girl finally. Throughout all this it never crossed my mind that this was kind of a big deal and then they told me that the doctor would come see me in the morning! I was staying overnight in a hospital for the first time. I was so worn out from 5 or more hours of constant pain that I really did not care at this point. Oh yea and just in case I would have to have surgery I could not have any food or even water! I did not get to have anything til 1 the next day!! They took us upstairs and got us settled in our room and I tried to get some sleep. I was so sick at this point from the pain meds I just wanted to sleep. Poor Ricky was supposed to go to work Friday morning but I did not allow him to get much sleep. It is hard to go to the bathroom alone, in a hospital gown, with an IV hooked up to you. I had to wake him up each time I had to get up. Friday I did not have anymore pain but I was so scared that it would come back so we decided to stay another night so I could get more fluids and hope that I could pass the stone. By Saturday morning I was ready to get home to my babies, my bath, and my bed!! We went home and Saturday night I ended up having to take 4 pain pills. I do NOT do pain pills, they make me sick and if I can avoid them I do but not a chance with that pain!! By Monday afternoon I was really having some different pains but not near as bad as before and after several trips to the bathroom I am pretty sure I finally passed it!!!!!! I hope that I never EVER get another kidney stone for as long as I live. That was the worst thing I have ever been through. I have decided after that labor should be no problem at all. However, I am still going for the c-section. I am not taking any chances of having a horrible labor after the pregnancy I have had so far. Sorry this was a long post but I wanted this whole experience documented so one day I can go back and read this and know that I survived the kidney stone. :)

Poor Daddy, he was tired!!

Yes, Bill and Earl REALLY were my nurses at night haha :) They did not have a plan tho and Dad took care of that for me :) Funny how they all write the same!

Baby M was just fine everytime we checked on him. Mom has decided his middle name should be Stone after his evil twin brother! Hahahahaha. It would be a good story and I like meaning behind things :)
(and cool number dates)
We had lots of company while we were stuck at the hospital and I got some pretty flowers :) Thanks Dara! :)

  1. LOL, I just discovered your blog, I LOVE IT! My husband has a problem with kidney stones (and they say they're even worse on men). I've never seen a grown man lay in the floor and cry until then, so I imagine it wasx t
